NSW Skills Reform Consultation Process Announced

In response to COAG productive workforce reform principles, the NSW Minister for Education, Adrian Piccoli, announced on 28 September 2011, the start of a consultation on the NSW vocational education and training (VET) sector to shape the direction of NSW reforms. The consultation process will be held in October with six community consultations in urban and regional locations, three forums with key stakeholders, and a call for written submissions open until 4 November 2011. Review of Student Income Support Reforms - Report

On 14 September 2011 the Australian Government tabled in Parliament its response to the Review of Student Income Support Reforms and will be introducing legislation seeking to implement these changes by 1 January 2012. Critical Skills Fund to deliver training to over 7500 workers

On 19 September 2011, the Minister for Skills and Jobs, Senator Chris Evans, announced successful projects worth $28m under the $200m Critical Skills Investment Fund (CSIF), to train new workers and up-skill existing workers in the resource, construction, infrastructure and renewable energy sectors to ease critical skills shortages.
