Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA)

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) will become Australia’s national regulator for vocational education and training (VET) from 1 July 2011. The legislation, National Vocational Education and Training Regulator (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2011 and National Vocational Education and Training Regulator (Transitional Provisions) Bill 2010, establishing the new national VET regulator, ASQA, received royal assent on 12 April 2011.

A national system of regulation will build on the current quality of, and ensure greater consistency in, Australia’s VET sector. Most of Australia’s training providers will make the transition to national regulation during 2011. ASQA is working closely with states and territories to make this transition as seamless as possible.
