The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) is Australia's national vocational education and training research and development centre.

NCVER's national research priorities for tertiary education for the period 2011-2013 fall into the following five broad areas:

  • Skills and productivity: to investigate how skills contribute to economic growth
  • Structures in the tertiary education and training system - examine the impact of policy, funding and market frameworks on the provision of education & training
  • The contribution of education and training to social inclusion: to explore the reduction of
    disadvantage through education and training
  • Learning and teaching: to understand how, why, where and when people learn.
  • The place and role of VET: to consider VET's role in the tertiary education sector, world of work and community.

NCVER has produced a free research database for technical and vocational education and training (VOCED). The VOCED database covers the topics of vocational education and training research, policy, practice, training systems and published statistics.
