Australian Training Awards

The Australian Training Awards are the peak, national awards for vocational education and training (VET), recognising innovation and excellence in the training sector. The Awards are the culmination of the state and territory awards with winners from each state and territory competing in the national finals. 2010 winners >>

2011 Australian Training Awards

The 2011 Awards will be held in Brisbane on Friday, 25 November, with the following categories being presented:

Five organisational categories

  • Small Employer of the Year
  • Employer of the Year
  • Large Training Provider of the Year
  • Small Training Provider of the Year
  • Industry Collaboration Award

Six individual categories

  • Australian School-based Apprentice of the Year
  • Vocational Student of the Year
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year
  • Australian Apprentice (Trainee) of the Year
  • Australian Apprentice of the Year
  • Teacher-trainer of the Year

Five national focus awards

In addition to the above categories, five National Focus Awards will be presented in the following categories:

  • Innovative Practices for Employers of Australian Apprentices
  • Quality Leadership Award
  • VET Pathways Award
  • VET in Schools Excellence
  • Skills for Sustainability

2010 Minister's Awards for Excellence

Senator Chris Evans, Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations hosted the Minister’s Awards for Excellence presentation ceremony on 26 October 2010. Senator Evans awarded trophies to 20 winners of the Employers of Australian Apprentices category, and announced the winners of the Minister’s Award for Excellence for Commitment to Australian Apprenticeships and the Minister’s Award for Support Services Excellence categories. Transition of the Minister’s Awards for Excellence into the 2011 Australian Training Awards
Further to a 2009 review, in 2011, the Minister’s Awards for Excellence for Employers of Australian Apprentices will now be referred to as the Innovative Practices for Employers of Australian Apprentices Award and the Support Services Excellence Award will be referred to as the VET Leadership Award and incorporated into the National Training Awards ceremony.
